Project title: “Influence the implementation of policy and enhance the rights of Domestic Workers in Bangladesh” under EWCSA Project.
Project Introduction: CAMPE is advocating, "Influence the Implementation of Policy and Enhance the Rights of Domestic Workers in Bangladesh" (IPERDW) under the "Empowering Women through Civil Society Actors in Bangladesh" (EWCSA) project initiative, with financial support from Oxfam Bangladesh, starting from July 1, 2024. This project aims to influence policy implementation and enhance the rights of domestic workers (DW) in Dhaka City. Building on previous efforts to improve domestic workers' livelihoods and working conditions, this project seeks to strengthen policymakers' roles in formalizing domestic work and enhancing governance systems for worker protection. Through programs, consultations, and campaigns, CAMPE aims to empower domestic workers, improve their livelihoods, promote gender equality, and encourage their participation in local governance and development processes.
Despite the government's affirmative actions over the past two decades for women's development, domestic workers have often been overlooked due to various challenges. The "Influence the Implementation of Policy and Enhance the Rights of Domestic Workers in Bangladesh" project targets to address these gaps, reaching nearly 1,500 individuals directly (50% women) and influencing around 20,000 individuals indirectly. However, from July 2024 to September 2024, the implementation of project activities fell short of expectations due to challenges in conducting preparatory work, securing NGOAB clearance, and recruiting project staff. As the project moves forward, CAMPE is dedicated to enhancing the lives and rights of domestic workers while ensuring robust policy advocacy and implementation.
