A school based campaign on “Social Tolerance and Harmony” was jointly organized by CAMPE & Doridro Shomaj Unnayon Sangstha on 28 January 2018 at Rangtiya High School, Jhinaigati, Sherpur. Mr. Mostafa Kamal, Secondary Education Officer, Jhinaigati graced as Chief Guest and Mr Shurid Jahangir Alam, Professor of Alhaj Rashedul Islam College, Mr. Ayub Ali, Chairman, Nolgora Union Prishad attended as Special Guest in this campaign program. The campaign was chaired by Md. Mostafa, SMC President, Rangtiya High School.

About 800 hundred students from 7 secondary schools participated in the campaign program.

The Chief Guest in his address stated that “Our society as well as country has made significant development, but during the recent time some negative incidents have been observed. Brotherhood, communal harmony, respect, morality and other such values are declining. Teachers and parents need to instill these values among children and present themselves as role models to motivate them.

During this campaign program, a question/answer session was also conducted by Mizanur Rahman Akhand where the students came up with their recommendations. Major recommendations are:

• Parents and teachers need to be more aware and cautious so that children do not get involved in anti-social activities.
• Overload of books, unnecessary pressure related to performance in exam create fear and frustration among students and lead them to get involved in self destruction. This sort of pressure must be reduced.
• Easy access to drugs, arms and extremism must be controlled.
• A friendly learning environment must be created to protect social harmony.
